There’s a cafe at the bottom of the Lizard which should be better known as the views are stunning and it doesn’t cost a fortune to eat there. You drive straight on until you can’t go any further, park and turn right along the footpath to the Lizard Lighthouse and then you come to the Polpeor Cafe.
Lots of beach restaurants in Cornwall are expensive, or are booked up miles in advance but you can walk straight in here, grab a table on the terrace outside and enjoy freshly cooked simple food. We had the three fish platter, mackerel, sole and bass grilled with butter, lemon and parsley, served with bread and salad. Last orders were at 7pm when we were there, so you do need to eat early.
It’s homely, simple and a true taste of Cornwall accompanied by the sun setting over the sea.
