Diary 6 September 2020

It is a week of preserving as a friend has given me 2kg of Victoria plums from her garden and I use them to make jam. I add Amaretto to the first batch when it is ready to pour into the jars and for the second batch, I boil up fig leaves with the cut up plums and fish them out before I add the sugar. Both versions, the plum and Amaretto jam and the plum and fig leaf jam are so good, that I can’t choose between them.

On Friday, we travel to Hope Cove for a week stopping at Clevedon Pier on the way. John Betejeman cited it as England’s most beautiful pier

We time our journey so we can stop off at Wild Artichokes in Kingsbridge to collet their Friday curry and spice night takeaway, chicken with fenugreek, rice, lentil and vegetable curry and Aloo Tikki Chaat.
